Cursed spirits can see humans, yes, but regular humans can't see them. They might exist in your world as well, but you're just not aware of them. [ :) ] Their existence is kept secret from the general public to prevent panic.

So that's what they're called. [ huh. ] I've been wondering if there's something unseen, too. It would make the most sense why we haven't found a source to any of what's actually happening to us. But if it's something only a few people could see... what then?
